Last year, for our 20th anniversary, we set our biggest goal ever – brightening the holidays for 2,000 families. We didn’t know if it was possible. But with your incredible support, WE DID IT. This year, we need you to help us do it all over again!

When you volunteer to adopt a local family, you help to provide them with everything they need for a complete holiday meal.​
How The Holiday Hamper Program Works
Step 1: Families Are Referred
We partner with Edmonton Public and Catholic Schools (77 schools participated last year!)
School staff identify families experiencing food insecurity and provide them with the opportunity to join our Holiday Hamper list to ensure support reaches those who need it most.
Step 2: You Sign Up to Give
When you register, you “adopt” a local family and commit to purchasing and delivering a food hamper based on our detailed grocery list.
At the beginning of December, you’ll receive your family’s details, dietary notes, and shopping guidelines to make giving simple and organized.
Step 3: You Shop with Heart
You'll purchase groceries from our approved grocery list to ensure every family receives a consistent, high-quality holiday meal.
We provide the turkey or fish, and roasting pan, to complete the hamper. All you need to do is follow the grocery list and shop with heart!
Step 4: You Deliver the Joy
On Saturday, December 20th, you'll join us at the Edmonton Expo Centre for our fast, drive-thru-style pickup.
You’ll collect your turkey and family information, then personally deliver the hamper to your adopted family, creating a moment of connection and joy they'll never forget.
More Than 8,500 Lives Touched Last Holiday Season in Edmonton
Founded by JCI Edmonton, The Holiday Hamper Program proudly celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2024, achieving our widest reach yet! Thanks to the incredible generosity of our dedicated volunteer Elves, we significantly impacted over 8,500 Edmontonians, including more than 6,200 children, by supporting over 2,000 local families in need. Together, we distributed a monumental amount of food, including 25,000 lbs of turkey, 5,000 lbs of fish, and over 50,000 lbs of fresh, local produce.
